Well, the yarn I originally chose was a bit too fuzzy for the project at hand. The beautiful stitch pattern was getting lost in all the long fibers. I really like this yarn. It's soft and has a nice hand. It will be better suited for something less stitch intensive. However, I managed to find a yarn very similar in color. This wool blend will do the trick.

That animal looking thing wrapped around my hand is my former sweater-in-the-making. I can already see the stitch definition much more clearly.
The original knitting will not go to waste. It will make a nice cowl.

Interesting!

DeleteI did not notice in your previous post, but definitely, it does look better! ;-)
ReplyDeleteAlso, Maryse because it's kind of folded over, it just looks like a blob. But it's folded because this yarn has a nice drape to it. It's quite nice actually. Like I said, just not suited for this project. But, I will keep it in mind.
DeleteI do like the second choice in wool better.
ReplyDeleteIs the first one, the fuzzy one itchy?
I had knit a beautiful cardigan out of beautiful wool, only to realize it was too itchy and had to wear a long sleeved shirt with it...but it was so so pretty ;)
Thanks Tracy. Actually, the first one is even softer than the second one. You definitely should plan on spending more for a softer wool. The cheaper the wool, the less soft it will be.
DeleteHi Monique. Thanks for stopping by my blog ;) Love what I see here, and what a difference with the yarn. The big challenge when choosing a pattern and yarn is to make it work together. One can be surpriced....... I ripped many objects because it didn´t work. I love the not so fuzzy and fhurry one. Nice color. coal grey- love it.Enjoy your Th.giving weekend
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! Yes it all has to work together. The swatch experiments can be fun. Starting a project over is never fun, but oh so necessary when you realize it's not exactly fabulous, and of course it has to be fabulous! :-)
